POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator Intern
JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinate and organize volunteers throughout King County for our 2 annual spring events on March 23rd and May 18th 2013. We are calling over 500 volunteers from throughout the county to activate food spaces. Together with JGP board, other interns, and supporters you will lead an essential role in planning and executing 2 city-wide days of building and celebration. You will gain hands-on experience in community outreach, volunteer recruiting, relationship building and maintenance, volunteer coordinating, evaluation, documentation, community organizing, and event coordination.
TIME COMMITMENT: 10 hrs/week with flexible scheduling from January – June 2013. There are two required Saturday events that you must be able to commit to on March 23rd and May 18th.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Volunteer Coordinator intern will be responsible for creating a weekly volunteer news letter, maintaining records for volunteer communication, marketing and recruitment for events, being a community representative for the JGP, posting flyers throughout King County, and collaborating with other interns and the program coordinator on our 2 large annual events, Spring into Bed!
QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for someone who can work independently and as part of a team, is comfortable working with diverse groups of people, has experience coordinating volunteers, and has their own vehicle. Spanish-speaking skills and a knowledge of either Redmond or High Point communities are preferred.
