Third Annual Fall into Bed
The Holden Fall into Bed was a huge success thanks to the dedicated volunteers, super gardeners, and spectacular weather! We were also lucky enough to work with a team of awesome Car Toys employees and Wireless Advocates employees who volunteered through United Way Day of Caring. In total, over 50 volunteers came out our Holden site in the Delridge Neighborhood on Friday, September 20th and donated more than 250 hours to build 5 gardens, including 4 backyard gardens for low-income families, and 1 community garden that will support an at risk community.
Coming together as a community to support low income families in becoming more self-sufficient is one of the best ways we can fix our food system. In Seattle and King County this means working with diverse and multicultural communities. Our favorite new-gardener resource is the Garden Hotline available to answer any questions about gardening. With their connection to the Language Line, groups like the us and Lettuce Link are better able to support families from all cultures in gardening.
Thank you to all those who volunteered and made the Fall into Bed event possible!
